| What a Day! |
I feel nearly incapable of talking about anything but yesterday. It was a busy and exciting day, and all the travel plans portion of this trip started coming together at once. Anyone you ask, it seems, will say a trip starts to feel real once the plane is finalized, I can agree with that.
I get to work with the LDS missionaries preparing to go to the Republic of the Philippines and around week seven or eight when they get their official travel plans, find out if their layover is in Taiwan or Hong Kong, and exactly what time of day they'll be leaving and arriving - nothing else gets done. I hear shouts through the hallways, "we got our travel plans, they came, did you hear?!!" I can't help but feel excited with them, and a little jealous (or a lot!) and now I'm feeling excited for myself. Yesterday I went in to talk with the travel office at BYU, they are angels who make everything work out perfectly. We worked out a plan to arrive in India May 8 and return in August with an extended eleven day layover in Europe, to arrive back in the states August 20th. I went to class for an hour after and when I got out I received confirmation that I could book the flight with those dates so I hurried back to their office and waited impatiently-ish in line.
While I waited I opened up my email only to find at the top of the list an email about my Visa application to India: ACCEPTED! Double hooray, probably a good thing to know before booking a flight in. I bought the ticket and the wonderful woman that helped me printed out the itinerary and put it in this envelope you see me holding. When I got home from work last night a package had arrived with my book, "Tibet, Tibet." What a day! I'm looking forward to reading the book with my group and learning more about the people I will be living with. I also bought this same author's book entitled, "India," in hopes of also learning a little more about the country I will be living in.
To add in a little news on the project situation, I've been talking to a few professors about my Internship and project ideas and have been given some suggestions about who would work best as my mentor, finalizing that would be a good next step, that is one of my goals as we finish off this month.

Who did you go through to get your visa? The one company I was thinking about using just does them in six month blocks from the time you apply, so I was sort of holding off on getting mine until March since if I got it now it would expire in June.
